Adding up to a bright future

Established in 1992 by managing director Ian Cocks and his wife Sharon Cocks, Taylor Cocks has become a force to be reckoned with, within the south’s chartered accountants and chartered tax advisers.

It has four offices in Portsmouth, Oxford, Reading and Farnham. In Portsmouth it is based at the Acorn Business Centre, Northarbour Road, Cosham.

It has built a reputation for it’s innovative and dynamic approach. The firm’s growth is due in no small part to the development of a specialist tax department in 1996.

The Tax Director, Paul Taylor, joined the firm having trained as a specialist tax adviser with a national firm of accountants, and bought with him the skills and knowledge to take Taylor Cocks on to the next level. Since that point the firm hasn’t looked back.

The specialist tax department and its ability to consistently save clients money has seen it transform rapidly from a small office with just three employees to a nationwide organisation, with 50 employees and 1,000 clients. Unlike other accountants, Taylor Cocks has not bought its clients through merging with or acquiring other practices, as is common in the industry.

The company’s growth is organic, and all of the clients that Taylor Cocks has worked with have been referred to it by existing clients, or have joined as a direct result of its marketing activity. The firm has now set its sights high, and plans to continue its expansion in the coming years. There are plans to open a new office in Bournemouth this year and another 15 offices over the next 10 years. To find out more about Taylor Cocks visit www.theaccountants.co.uk.
